In this class we will learn to knit the Norwegian Selbu Mittens mittens! 

Skill Level required: Advanced Beginner; must be comfortable knitting and purling and working in the round.

Here is what you will learn in this class:

• Stranded colourwork
• Reading colourwork charts
• Thumb gusset and completing the thumb

Materials supplied by Yarn Twisters:

• pattern for Norwegian Selbu Mittens by Alicia Wessell (pattern will be emailed to you upon confirmation of registration)

Materials supplied by students:

• 2 colours of worsted weight yarn, approx. 50g for each colour (ex. Size 1 used approx. 31g of MC and 22g of CC).  Be sure to pick high contrast colours to ensure you can see the colourwork!  Note: non-superwash yarn is best for colourwork; yarn suggestions: Cascade 220, Blue Sky Fibers Wookstok
• needles as indicated in the pattern for the size you are choosing to knit, your preference for knitting in the round small circumference (double pointed needles, long circular for magic loop, 9” circular), or size required to meet gauge.  Note: DPN’s or long circular will be required to complete the thumb
• Stitch markers (optional, but always good to have on hand!)
• Darning needle
• Pen or pencil (if desired to take notes)

Pre work: Please come to the class with the ribbing portion of your mitten completed, ready to work Round 1 of the main body of the mitten

Please ensure that all materials are purchased prior to the class and yarn is wound into a ball if purchased as a skein
